An O-ring seal is a means of closing off a passageway and preventing an unwanted loss or transfer of fluid. An O-ring is defined by diameter (ID), the section diameter and material (compound). O-rings are popular because they offer the advantages of low initial cost, adaptability to limited space, ease of installation, high efficiency, no need for adjustment, tolerance to a wide range of pressures, temperatures and fluids, and sealing in both directions. O-rings are used as static and dynamic seals. Dynamic applications are more difficult to seal, hence the design and material selection are more critical. The major applications of O-ring seals are piston seals, rod seals, piston guides, piston gland seals, valve seals, valve stem packings, static gasket seals, general purpose light to medium duty cylinders. Tulip O-rings are available in Imperial or Metric series.

Flat rubber o-ring seal. A common replacement part, this seal sits between the top of the blade and the botom of the jar. Only one seal is needed per blender. Fits ALL Oster blenders, Osterizers and Oster Kitchen Centers. Also fits some Sunbeam models which use a metal drive pin.
